Through the use of culture-specific avatars and video-conferencing technology, Safe Port Initiative is launching a global venture to deliver distance education to survivors of human trafficking, displaced refugees, and victims of systematic persecution on six continents. The pilot program for this unprecedented effort will begin in September 2016, providing culturally relevant curriculum from primary academic education to adult vocational training to 60 students in Africa and the Middle East.
Detroit Lions Safety James Ihedigbo is taking a stand against human trafficking this season by starring in a public service announcement produced by Gridlock Ministries, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that exists to create gridlock in human trafficking on a global scale. The 30-second PSA will debut at Lambeau Field during the Bears-Packers game on Thanksgiving Day.
